Cost of treatment
Hi Everyone, I've been lurking on the boards for a while now just to get as much info as I can on getting pregnant! I have endo and just had a laparoscopy done. My doctor recommended that we try to get pregnant naturally for about 3 months then move onto injectable fertility drugs. I tried to get pregnant last year for 7 months and was in a lot of pain b/c of endo. I just called my insurance and they don't cover the fertility drugs so how much do they cost out of pocket each month? I also have the genetic blood clotting (MTHRF and Factor V) so I will need heparin when I am pregnant, but that's a whole other issue!

Re: Cost of treatment
Karen -- When my Dr. prescribed the IVF drugs, they came out to $8,000. Yes you read that right.
However....some very generous ladies on here dontaed their unused drugs to me. I had IUI this month which only required 2 of the meds (Gonal-F and hCG). If the IUI worked ( ) I will be donating those meds to whoever needs them on here.
There are also web sites where you can buy them from women who have left over meds. Your clinic may be able to give you some of the meds as well.
BTW, they are only about $1,000 in Mexico so you could take a trip down there -- same exact stuff...but hopefully you won't need ANYTHING!

Re: Cost of treatment
my insurance doesn't cover anything either!
for past cycles I was on Follistim which was $500 a cartridge, def price check with different pharmacies - some had a $50 difference!
Also there is a program called Prescription RX, the pharmacy should enroll when you order your meds, it gets you some discounts
As Kara mentioned ask the nurse if there are any donated meds also
Also give the pharmacy your insurance card - you never know if something may be able to go through - good luck!!
