cottage cheese
Can we eat cottage cheese? I saw a pregnant girl at work eating it today and I thought it looked yummy so at the supermarket I bought iit and then I got to thinking...my dr. said no soft cheeses. Does that include cottage cheese and what about mozzarella?TIA

Re: cottage cheese
Cottage cheese is pasteurized so it should be fine.

Re: cottage cheese
It's not all soft cheeses. Just any kind of UNpasteurized cheeses. Most cottage cheese should be pasteurized. It would say on the label.
ETA - Most mozzarella is fine too. Some fresh kinds of mozzarella, however, may be unpasteurized so if you buy it at a supermarket, check the label. I eat pizza with regular mozzarella (not the fresh kind - there's a difference) all the time. Ricotta cheese should be pasteurized as well. The only things they warn you to be cautious about are certain kinds of brie, feta, and I think even certain types of gorgonzola, bleu cheese (although again, not all are unpasteurized - depends where you buy it).
