coughing fits in the am? anyone want to tell me why?
Okay so for the past month, my son has been waking up in the morning with coughing fits. He doesn’t have a cold, so I don’t get why this is happening. It often wakes him up (mostly in the morning) and for the most part, he’ll go back to sleep if it’s anytime other than his normal wakeup time. But any ideas on why?
He’s 1 year old next week.
He does have reflux and his top 2 teeth are coming in. Don’t know if either could be the reason, but for over a month?

Could it be from the extra saliva and mucous from teething?

Re: coughing fits in the am? anyone want to tell me why?
My DD has been doing this and last night was so horrible i took her to the doc this am..well, guess what, her top teeth are coming in and she is just 7 months! Her 2 bottom came in and have been growing for a month now..well, i thought for sure reflux with my DD due to milk protein allergy-we have been reintroducing milk and the Ped told me 2 weeks or so and those suckers will be coming in..ugh...

I have no idea why, but maybe a humidifier would help?

So the pediatrician said it's from the extra saliva of teething?

Thats what I would think.... Is his reflux acting up?? Coughing is also a sign of reflux, maybe while he is laying down a little acid is still backing up his esophagus and causing him to cough.
If he isn't displaying any other signs of reflux problem I would chalk it up to saliva from teething or possibly environmental allergies from all this pollen in the air

Re: coughing fits in the am? anyone want to tell me why?
Yeah, my DD has severe allergies and honestly, i can usually tell the difference bc she has constant congestion in her nose and the gag reflux is usually from reflux in her case..so, i thought maybe she was having allergies from the milk protein but nope, teething big time..makes sense bc she is a faucet again lately...ugh..and she usually sleeps on her tummy except when she is teething really bad and she will roll onto her back...so, i missed those signs..then again, i am on like 2 hours of sleep from her waking and screaming all night long!
