Could an infant rubbing their nose mean teething?
Does anyone know if an infant keeps rubbing their nose if it could be teething?DD just started making more saliva about two weeks ago. Now she started the weirdest thing, rubbing her nose. I don't believe it's related to hunger or sleep b/c she does it after she eats or even while she sleeps.
I am wondering if it could be related to teething? She also seems to be biting and licking her hand alot more, and even possibly pressing a finger on her gums? She will be 3 mths but isn't it early for teething?

Yes, DS always rubs his nose and right under his nose when he is teething.
Definitely could be a sign!

How did you know for sure she was teething? Maybe it's my imagination but I also feel DD has been a bit cranky for her...

Any other symptoms? How far in advance did the nose rubbing start? It's just so WEIRD...she rubs so often, on and off and she has no cold symptoms, no allergy symptoms so teething (or just plain weird curious habit) are the only things I can think of. Thanks!

She was constantly pulling at her face, and OMG the drool.... she was chewing her hands all the time, and i put my fingers in her mouth, and there were little bubbles slowly forming where the teeth were coming....

With DD, when she "found" new body parts she played with them endlessly for a bit, and then moved on to something else new. The ears were annoying, b/c we were worried about ear infections...but she was just playing with her new found ears.
Rubbing the nose honestly sounds like an odd indication of teething. Maybe she is teething, maybe she isn't. The only way you'll know for sure is when one of those suckers pops through. It's possible that she found her nose though, and just likes rubbing it.

Probably at 4 months and his first 2 teeth came in at about 6 months.
Other than that, the usual putting EVERYTHING in his mouth and taking toys and rubbing them along his gum.
He would snap the nipples on his bottles.
And just overall, CRANKY!!!!
Once the teeth popped through he was much better but it took forever!

Honestly, I don't think you ever really know if they are teething until the teeth break through or are just on the verge. We chuck almost everything up to teething because until they have all their teeth, they ARE teething.
