Could probiotics being making my DS throw up?
In the 6 months my DS has only thrown up 3 times (I'm not talking spit up but projectile throw up). The 1st two times were when I was giving him Florastar when he was on antibiotics. Throughout the course of the antibiotics he was on it but I continued to give it to him 2 days after the course of treatment. It was those 2 days he puked all over me a few times. I figured it was too much on his belly and stopped. Now I just started him on Happy Bellies cereal which also has probiotics in it and I just got puked on. Do you think?? Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: Could probiotics being making my DS throw up?
It's funny that you posted this...my DD just had her very first projective vomit yesterday. I mean, ALLLLLL over herself, the car seat, the seat protector and it even managed to get all the way onto the floor mats
We just recently started giving her yogurt, which I know is packed with probiotics.
I asked here yesterday, and the consensus seems to be that yogurt made their DC throw up...so I wonder if it's probiotics in general?

Re: Could probiotics being making my DS throw up?
I work as a nutritional consultant for a dietary company, it IS possible for probiotics/acidophilus to cause vomiting, because it is intended to naturally restore ones digestive health. However, I am not familiar with Florastar, bit probiotics in general are just like taking milk and any other culture-containing product (like yogurt).
It's possible the dosage is too high or it just doesn't agree with him. I'd put in a call to the ped to see what he says

I'm not sure what Floracaster is...... I guess it could be a possibility...
Happy bellies has a really small amount of pro-biotics in it....
Has he alwasy reacted like this since he has been on the floracaster or this just happened recently

He was fine on the Florastar when he was taking the anti-biotics. As soon as he stopped the medicine but I continured the pro-biotic-he puked (I'm talking projectile everywhere puke). So after 2 days of that I stopped the florastar and never looked back- this was about 2 months ago. Fast foward to happy bellies cereal and we once again have pukage! Makes me wonder?!
