could use some hugs, not a great appt today.....
basically i got some bad results and have to go for more blood tests to see if i had/have toxoplasmosis or not----the worst part of it was that i went in just for bloodwork, the tech just gave me an envelope with my results and lab slip for more bloodwork (thinking the doctor or nurse had already explained everything to me) and sent me on my way---so of course i get to work and open the envelope (I thought it was paperwork for the ultrascreen) and freaked out. im praying the test comes back negative....i don't have a cat, i don't garden & I don't eat raw/undercooked meat......so it doesnt' make sense to me

Did they say how they thought you could have got it?
they said they weren't 100% sure i had it, possibly could be a false positive or old infection, so the next test is supposed to clarify if i had/have it or not! they said based on my lack of risk factors, it could be a false positive, i hoping!

Try not to worry, I had the same thing happen. My first toxoplasmosis test came back "inderterminate". My Dr. sent me to a high risk specialist. It took me 4 weeks to get an appt.
The high risk Dr. told me that he hasn't seen a case of toxoplasmosis in 15 years. They did more blood work and my test came back negative. I know it's hard not to worry, but the chances of getting toxo are pretty slim, especially if you don't have a cat or do any gardening. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Believe it or not - millions of people carry the toxo parasite without ever developing full blown toxoplasmosis. It's not that big a deal unless it goes untreated. If you have ever in your life had a cat chances are that you've been exposed.

I remember being nervous about this when I was pregnant b/c I have a cat. I spoke to my dr. and actually my vet, who was also pregnant who deals with cats and other animals all day. They both said it is RARE and hardly ever develops into anything serious. It could have been a false positive. I would not worry!
