Cover Letter when excessed
My friend was just excessed from a private school due to budget cuts and lack of state aid. He asked me to brush up his resume and cover letter.
Question - Do we put that he spent 8 years there and was excessed or keep it as I currently teach at ....
TIA

Re: Cover Letter when excessed
I was excessed and put something like this in my cover letter. "Because of budget constraints, my position at XXXX School will be terminated at the end of this year."

Re: Cover Letter when excessed
I was responsible for viewing cover letters and resumes for the people applying for my leave replacement. We got SO MANY resumes, that when people have unexplained absences / terminations on the resumes, I just put them right into the "no" pile. Fair or not, there were hundreds of resumes and it was just easier to put them in "no" then wonder / debate with others if that candidate was not asked back, was difficult to work with, etc.
So, yes, definitely explain that you worked there for 8 years but due to budget constraints, the position is no longer available.
