Covering up a bruise with makeup?
What's the best way to cover up a bruise with makeup? Just apply makeup as usual and put it on a little heavier around bruise? We have a family wedding this weekend and my poor MIL who watches my 2 yo, got a nice head butt into the head yesterday and of course showed up with a nice black eye this morning. I feel awful! It's on her upper eyelid. So I've never had to cover up a bruise/black eye before and she is not a makeup person by any means (although she will have to be this Saturday, lol), so I will have to work some magic on her. Just wondering if there are any special techniques I should be using or a certain brand or makeup I should pick up for her? Any info is appreciated!
Thanks!!

Dermablend or Kat Von D's tattoo cover-up...I forget the name of it. Either should do the trick!

Covering up a bruise with makeup?
Get a green cover up stick. Physicians formula makes it. Applying green first helps dull the blue/purple bruise color. Then apply makeup as usual

From my experience, green is best used on blemishes/reddish skin issues and it only darkens blue/purple skin problems. It might be because I'm very fair-skinned, but I just wanted to put that out there.
OP - would she be the type to go to Sephora with you to try a few techniques?

No, she would not, lol. My MIL is just not that lady. She grew up on a farm in Italy. I don't think I've ever seen her wear makeup. I tried a few foundations of mine on her this morning so I could get a feel of what shade I need to buy her and it was so funny because you could tell this was probably the first time anyone ever put makeup on her. lol.
DH of course suggested we just put blue and purple eyeshadow on the other eye, lol
eta: she has olive colored skin so not sure if that makes a difference but I"ll definitely pick up a green cover up stick to see if that helps.

Re: Covering up a bruise with makeup?
Peachy colors ( like the bobbi brown correctors) actually cover up purple while yellow & green work better on redness.
something that covers tattoos like dermablend or the Kat Von D tattoo concealer should also work.
You will probably need foundation & concealer to make look natural.

Re: Covering up a bruise with makeup?
Just wanted to thank you all for the suggestions. I am happy to report that we were able to cover up the black eye and no one noticed! The main products we used were the Bobbi Brown corrector in a peach color and the Kat Von D tattoo concealer (both products are amazing!!). Then we finished up with some foundation to match her skin tone and some powder to set it all.
Thanks again!
