CPSE advice needed. ********UPDATE*******
DS is speech and language delayed with sensory issues. These are the results of his evals:
Higher than 33% delay in Speech (expected) almost 25% delay in Fine Motor almost 25% delay in Gross Motor (recommended to be re-evaluated in 6 months) 25-33% delay in sensory profile 25% delay in social/emotional 25% delay in self help
They are recommending speech, OT (but they said I may have to advocate for it at the meeting) and full day center based program in an 8-1-2 classroom. She said that it would be a high functioning classroom.
I'm thinking about Millneck Manor as the center based program.
My question is: they said I'd have to advocate for OT but considering he has been getting it, he has ALMOST a 25% delay and major sensory issues, I am likely to get it.
I'm wondering if I should advocate for PT as well? They said he should be re-evaluated in 6 months. I'm thinking it would be better to give him the services for 6 months and then if the eval shows he doesn't need it, we can take it away. What do you think?
UPDATE: We had the meeting today and it went well. He will get: Full day program (8:1:2) Speech 2x30 OT 2X30 PT 2X30
I'm glad about the PT. NOW the question is, do I keep him at Brookville Marcus ave or try for Mill Neck.....

Re: CPSE advice needed.
As a special ed. teacher, I'm going to tell you to advocate for all the services you can get while your child is young. So many studies shoe that the earlier the intervention, the better the child is able to overcome it, or learn the appropriate coping skills for whatever their disability may be. Things become habit for them at a younger age, that may be more difficult to teach them at an older age. You should document things that happen at home that pertain to OT and PT, and how frequent they occur. You can look up average functions by age, and notate what is/is not happening and what your child is have a very hard time doing that OT and PT would help address.
Good Luck!
