So we had DS's meeting yesterday. Massapequa school district gave him half day program, ot twice, speech twice. I was pleasantly surprised how well it went

He has no formal diagnosis, but his fine motor delay and issues with pragmatic speech qualified him.

We live in Nassau and I am 100% not open to him being buses to Queens or Suffolk. I need him more local to home for everyone's sake.

So one of our top two choices has an afternoon slot open for DS, but no availability at the daycare in the am so he will have to be buses. Not a problem, except we were advised to find a smaller daycare for DS and we are at a loss of where to go that may be sensitive to his needs.

We live in Massapequa and are open to a pretty wide range in Nassau. Any suggestions?

P.S- the other program has daycare openings, but not 100% about the special ed preschool part, we have to see if another kid's parents accept or decline the open spot. If that program has both then we would take that no questions asked. If not then we still need a daycare that offers a half day program and would be sensitive to his sensitivities.

I just saw a flier that Variety in Syosset just started childcare this Fall. Call 516-921-7171 or email [email protected]. Also try Westbury Friends as I believe they are also a special needs preschool with childcare. Nor sure about Westbury Friends but LEEDS just opened a preschool on Brushollow road in westbury. I know the one in Melville does before care. There is also a Daycare in that area Little sponges that could bus to the school There a many Daycares in the area that you can drop off in the mooring and they can bus to the preschool.
