Craigslist.com - since when did you have to pay to post?

DH asked me to post in the jobs section for him (he's looking for a carpentry job in Westchester). I did it a few months ago and it was free as I figured, since I thought Craigslist was free. Well this time around I had to pay $25! I did it, because I figured it was cheap enough, but geez, Craigslist was always the place to go to to post for free and even that's not free anymore! I really hope he gets some work out of this!
ETA: I apparently posted on the area where EMPLOYERS post looking for employees, that is why I had to pay.
They deleted the post and emailed me (a nice email too actually) and will refund me my $. Those seeking jobs have to post a resume, I guess it goes to the same area on craigslist (I hope) and it's still free. My bad!

There is a way to do it for free still - I think you have to type it in as westchester.craigslist.org - no www and don't go to the main. I don't know why it does this and it's only for job postings. One of the managers at our store kind of fell into the nonpay version and we use it all the time.
BTW, the ad posts normally - you can see it no matter how you search.

Only brokers have to pay for RE lisitings.

$25 is a deal though - it's a couple of hundred to put an ad in the paper.
