Crasher here - Daycare question!

Hello!

DH and I are planning on starting a family within the next few months, but before we do that, we want to make sure of a few things.

Does anyone know if daycare is tax-deductable?

Also, is $900 a reasonable amount per month for daycare? We have daycare in my building and that's what we would do when the time comes.

Thank you!

It is tax deductible, and $900 is very reasonable.

Hey... sorry to crash in on this question but...

Do you have FLEX Benefits plan @work? You should be able to put money into that account that can be used as tax-deductible money for daycare.

Re: Crasher here - Daycare question!

How convenient to have childcare in the same building! That's a good price. My daycare is $245 a week, so it's not unheard of to find great quality care in that price range. I would just check out their violations (if any).

Thanks for sharing what you pay. DH is having a really difficult time wrapping his head around the cost of daycare.

Re: Crasher here - Daycare question!

When DS starts in September mine will be $260/mo and I found that to be very reasonable. It's a lot to think of monthly but when you do the math and look at the hourly cost - it's really very cheap.

Re: Crasher here - Daycare question!

My daycare is $290 a week, so that price seems fair

Also, the daycare costs are tax deductible
