Crashing - flu shot spinoff
Hello ladies! DH and I haven't started TTC yet, but likely will after my next cycle. I've never gotten the flu shot before and have never gotten the flu. Last year DH came down with the flu hard, was out of work for 6 days, and it took him months to really recover. He is a teacher and intends to get the flu shot this year.
I have concerns about getting the vaccine if I'm lucky to conceive quickly, so I was thinking that it might make sense to get the flu shot now, before we start trying. This way, it's just me. Does that make sense? I'm going to speak with my OB and PCP about it as well, but wondered if that sounds like an ok idea to you ladies. TIA!!

Get it now if you plan on TTC. But it doesn't really matter. Pregnant women can (and should) get a flu shot. Drs tend to recommend the preservative-free version for pregnant women, though.

I got the shot both times I was pregnant and I was fine. The way i see it I would rather not be pregnant and have the flu.

I got the flu shot while I was pregnant. It was my 1st time getting it because I was afraid of getting sick while being pregnant.

Well the vaccine remains in your system for about a year.So if you were to get it now and then get pregnant, say in 2 months, it would still be in your system, KWIM? So I don't see how that would be any different.

Re: Crashing - flu shot spinoff
I know my office strongly suggests getting the flu shot, but getting the one with NO preservatives. I know when we went to get our flu shots the form we filled out asked if you were pregnant or might be getting pregnant in a month so I'd say get it!

Got my first flu shot ever this week at 37 weeks pregnant. Preservative-free one, but no big deal. If you get pregnant the baby will be protected as well. I think it's worth it.
