crashing.. any nursery or PreK teachers? this is regarding speech
DS just turned 3 & he has always been a little behind other kids his age in speech(not cognative, just verbalizing). He had 5 months of EI speech therapy after he turned 2yrs - he went from speaking ONE word to HUNDREDS! so his therapist, of course, didn't approve him for more therapy. The problem is that his pronunciation is poor & he doesn't use complete sentences using correct tenses/pronouns. Sometimes it also seems lik ehe wants to say so much, which would require a long sentence & he gets all flustered & he ends up speaking a mix of giberish/english- lol
I have been going back & forth with myself over if I should be calling the SD to try & get him evaluated again but then I think to myself that he will start nursery school in September & that should help him tremendously.
BTDT nursery & pre-k teachers, do you get kids in your class at the start of the year that are delayed in speech & see alot of improvements? Is is frustrating for you when you may not understand the child? That's the thing, he makes sure to get his point across even though his speech is improper. tia

I've worked in early childhood a long time and what you are describing is fairly common for his age. I still see Kindergarteners that use the wrong verb tense. What I usually do is repeat the sentence back to them the correct way. I don't tell them they are incorrect, so it seems like it's more for clarification than correction. That's great that he made so much progress!

articulation issues are age appropriate. My ped told us that a 3rd party caregiver should understand 75%. For DS#2 I didn't understand 75%, so we went to CPSE. His issue was more receptive. They list artic issues and noted that it is age appropriate.
Go with your gut...call the SD
