credit checks-job applications
I have been with my current company for almost 8 years and a few years back I made some poor financial decisions that have recently come to life...I am now working them all out and things are being addressed appropriately, but now I am worried about a potential job option that would require a credit check. Anyone have any feedback on what are typical things that are looked at for job credit checks?
Ugh...if only I could go back....

Re: credit checks-job applications
We have to do background checks on our employees at customer requests.
Generally, they go back 7 years. Out of the scores of clients I've had to run them for 1 client goes back 10 years.
We don't look at the detail that much but at the summary. Here is an example of the summary that we focus on :
THE FOLLOWING CREDIT SUMMARY REPRESENTS THE SUBJECT'S TOTAL FILE HISTORY PUBLIC RECORDS: 0 CURRENT NEGATIVE ACCTS: 0 REVOLVING ACCTS: 1 COLLECTIONS: 0 PREVIOUS NEGATIVE ACCTS: 0 INSTALLMENT ACCTS: 0 TRADE ACCTS: 1 PREVIOUS TIMES NEGATIVE: 0 MORTGAGE ACCTS: 0 CREDIT INQUIRIES: 5 EMPLOYMENT INQUIRIES: 1 OPEN ACCTS: 0
I've had a high-level government agency accept a candidate with a few current negative accounts. They declined an employee with a recent bankruptcy. Another candidate had a felony charge because he bounced a check over $250 in the State of FL. Once he provided the documentation that it was cleared up, he was put on the project.
HTH. Feel free to FM me if you need more info.
