does anyone know how to update your credit report.
How do you go about removing cc (say like kohls, gap) ones that i haven't used in years.
TIA

Re: credit report
Do they have zero balances? Are they still open?
It takes seven years for them to come off your credit report.

Re: credit report
I think they come off on their own after 3 years or something. They stay on the report for some time though, regardless of whether or not they've been used in awhile.

Re: credit report
They will never come off if the account is open.
You have to close the account and then after a period of time they will automatically come off.

Ditto this. YOU need to call the CC companies that the card is through and close the account.

Re: credit report
It's always better for you to call and close an account.
However, if these accounts have been open a long time, it could end up hurting your credit score because you are shortening your credit history. You are also reducing the amount of your debt to credit ratio.

Re: credit report
After you call and close them, they will stay there for 7 years.
