Crib / dresser price question
Do I have expensive taste or are the prices really this high? We have been looking at cribs / dressers and DH nearly dies every time he sees the price. He would never tell me not to buy it but I am starting to wonder if I just have unwarranted expensive taste for something not necessary. Am I falling into all the traps of a salesperson because it is a baby?
If you don’t mind can you share the price of your:
Crib (please list if it is a convertible or not) Dresser (not armoire, just a regular dresser that I can use the top as a changing table as)
If you don’t want to post, please FM me.
Thanks!

Re: Crib / dresser price question
Hey Deb, our crib was about 499 & the dresser about 599 (around there)...thankfully my IL's bought it for us....
Expensive but we're hoping it will last at least through 2 kiddos.

Re: Crib / dresser price question
I was also very surprised at how expensive everything was.
I ended up shopping around and fell in love with 3 different pieces... total cost for convertable crib, armoir, and dresser/changing table was under $1000.... (about #1100 after tax and delivery)
Plus we had such a fun time putting everything together!!

Re: Crib / dresser price question
I think our crib was $499 or $599 - can't remember. It's convertible.
Luckily I am using my own old childhood furniture set from Ethan Allen that is like 25 years old and in perfect condition. We picked out a crib finish that is very close. It won't be an exact match but it saved us tons of money.

Re: Crib / dresser price question
I spent $$ on DD knowing she would keep the furniture way past baby. It doesn't look like baby furniture and will take her into her teenage years and beyond.
I bought Legacy all hardwoods
Convertible crib-$599 Dresser-$399 Hutch-$300 CHanging Dresser $400 Convertible Rails for Full size bed-$150
Def worth every penny to me. I bought a pine crib for #2 knowing I would either hand it down or donate it, and it looks so different next to DD's crib.

Re: Crib / dresser price question
Crib: $120 (we had a $100 gc, so we paid $20) Dresser: Free Changing Table: Free Armoire: Free b/c we already had it.
So, we spent a whopping $20 on our nursery furniture.
Oh and a glider, I was going to buy one after we moved (we moved when DS was a month old) but my SMIL bought me one as a shower gift!

Re: Crib / dresser price question
My parents split the cost of our nursery furniture, everything came out to about $2600, includes crib (which goes up to a double bed), a small dresser and an armoire.
I feel it was definitely worth it because it is a very classic style and will grow with the child, it can even be used when they are a teenager.

Re: Crib / dresser price question
I paid $250 for my convertible crib (eBay) and $80 for the changing table and small armoire, which we also painted (craigslist.) Large armoire I already owned.
