Crib help - SOOO confused
we went crib shoppiing yesterday and i am SO confused... i really really like the the convertible concept and style but it doesn't have a drop side?? I'm not very tall and the salesperson was saying i'd regret it. Is it that much of a pain? Its a Munire crib. I figured i could get a little stool for when i need to put baby in the crib later on when the mattress is lower?? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
i like the idea of not having to buy another set and/or trying to match the dresser to a bed later on...

I'm 5'2 and couldn't live without my drop side (especially now that I'm pregnant again!)

I knew I wanted a convertible AND a drop side so my choices became limited. I ended up with this one. So far I like it alot.

Re: Crib help - SOOO confused
I am tall and I would prefer the drop down. I used to put my nephew in his crib when he was an infant and the drop down makes it much easier--I am 5' 9''

Re: Crib help - SOOO confused
Originally I really wanted one with a drop side, My DH feels the convertible cribs are more sturdy, and in the end all the ones we liked were convertible so I think we will go with one of those. Also if you do a search on here there were a lot of shorter women who said they didnt have any problems w/o the drop down side and some who had it said they have never used it.

Re: Crib help - SOOO confused
I'm tall and have a back problem so the drop-side was a no-brainer for me.
Being that you are not that tall, I STILL would go with the drop-side because the stool idea sounds dangerous AND it would make your life so much easier so you don't hurt your back, etc.
In the end, it's a personal preference really. GL!

Re: Crib help - SOOO confused
I too liked the convertible crib style but I thought about it and decided to go with a drop side one instead. What sealed the deal for my DH and I was that our friends with 2 year old twins said their child was able to partially climb out of the convertible crib. They caught her before she fell but it was so scary for them.

Re: Crib help - SOOO confused
I am tall and was considering aa drop side. After shopping, I fell in love with a Munire convertible set and that's what we went with.
Sorry I am not too helpful

Re: Crib help - SOOO confused
I am only 5'4" and do not have a drop down side on the crib. It doesn't bother me at all. I had such trouble in the store trying to put the side up and down on the floor models, I couldn't imagine trying to do that with a baby in my arms.

Re: Crib help - SOOO confused
I have the drop side and can't imagine not having it. It's not difficult to pull down while holding DS and I would never be able to lay him down now that the mattress is all the way down without the side.
Here is my crib. I have it in a lighter color. It's Pali and from Behr's.

Re: Crib help - SOOO confused
My DS has a crib without a drop side and I am 5'2 and I have to admit it was hard when the mattress was all the way down, but not unbearable. You can buy a drop side convertible, it just wont have a footboard when it turns into a full bed. They had really nice cribs that were drop side convertibles at bellini, but they were $$$, I bought mine at Behrs.

Re: Crib help - SOOO confused
I have one of each, DS's crib has the drop down and I had it down up until he started to sit up. Once it was up I never remembered to put it down again. I will say that I did forget to put it up once and that was while he was able to stand but the mattress was lowered all the way, but he still could have fallen out. After that I stopped putting it down. I am 5'4 and even PG I never put it down. I did use it to change his sheets but that is it. For DD her crib is stationary sides and so far I have had no issues.
