crib skirt- dust collector or a must have?
I'm debating about needing the crib skirt- it looks cute, but I can see that it would also catch dust - is everyone getting one?

Re: crib skirt- dust collector or a must have?
In my mind the only things that I used from DSs set are: crib skirt fitted sheet valance
I never used the bumpers, blanket or diaper stacker.
If you don't think you are going to use the crib skirt, then I would just get the sheets, valance and accessories.

Re: crib skirt- dust collector or a must have?
The crib skirt on DS's crip prevents the pacifier from rolling under his crib in the middle of the night after he drops it through the slats. This also prevents me from being on my hands and knees at 3 am trying to feel under the crib and cursing myself for ever giving him the pacifier in the first place.

I'm a clean freak and I don't think it's a dust collector ......I dust and vacum under the crib ......but I don't think the skirt causes any more dust than normal

Re: crib skirt- dust collector or a must have?
the bottom of our crib is open, and there's a drawer that holds sheets, blankets, etc. Without a crib skirt, this drawer and its contents would be visible. Therefore, for me the crib skirt is a must have!

Re: crib skirt- dust collector or a must have?
I liked the "look" of it but certainly not a must have. As a matter of fact it became a pain in the butt because when I had DD#1 we had 2 cats that loved to hang out under the crib and the skirt used to catch all their hair so I had to clean it more often than I thought I would have.

Re: crib skirt- dust collector or a must have?
mine only worked for us while the mattress was at the high position. once we dropped the mattress the skirt was all over the floor. it did hide the springs and stuff when the mattress was up though.

Re: crib skirt- dust collector or a must have?
i questioned it until i saw the mattress in the raised position and realized you saw all the bars that held it up underneath... if i had a drop side crib i may hae felt different, but with my sleigh crib it is necessary with the raised mattress

Same here..I dont like the way it looks without it. But I also only got solid bumpers and a blanket for the crib, didnt get the whole "Set" this time around.

Re: crib skirt- dust collector or a must have?
It looks nice but in retrospect, I wish I didn't buy it - or I should say I could have gotten something that coordinated for much less. After you drop the mattress you can't use it anyway. Not a must have in my book.
