Crickets!!!
They usually don't start until late August or September - used to get crickets in the basement for about a month. Last year, it was particularly bad and we found a few on the ground floor too Now they are starting even early - found a few small ones in the house already. Has anyone found any good way to stop them? We have no idea where they are getting in. I'm suspecting it's up under the siding or other small cracks we can't see.

We've been getting them too. Put sticky traps down...we killed a ton of them last year with those.

WE have them too, and while its gross to see them all "stuck", I agree, the sticky traps work!

Ditto, but we get them later in the season usually. They tend to congregate near the walls and corners.
If one gets under the stove, it's deafening because our bedroom is just a few feet from the kitchen.

UGGGHHH I hate those freakin things. We had them soooooo bad in the basement last year I never wanted to go down to do laundry because they were all over the place. I am talking like 10 of them in one spot! I haven't seen or heard one yet and I hope it stays that way.

Re: Crickets!!!
We used to get those camel crickets- those suckers were HUGE and they could hop like 17 inches into the air. Creeeeeeepy. DH would hunt them down in our old apt. Now we live in a condo that's 3 flights up No more crickets

Oh my GODDDDD when we lived in East Meadow in the basement apartment, we used to get them around this time of the year. They'd stay till like, October! This picture gave me the heebie jeebies!!!
There was one time that I was in the shower, and I saw a funny looking striped thing on the wall. I had seen it before--it looked just like one of the cricket's legs. So I called DH at work and asked him about it. His reply:
"Ohhhh I was hoping I wouldn't have to tell you about that. When I was getting into the shower, I saw one coming out of the small hole on the side of the showerhead, and I had to spray it and pry it out of there."
Needless to say, I was pretty preoccupied with watching the showerhead from then on...
