Crock pot Q
when making a roast, why do you brown it on the sides before putting it into the crock pot?
i'm making one now, and the instructions said to do it so i did, but what is the purpose of doing so?
does it create some kind of crust?

Re: Crock pot Q
To my understanding it basically keeps all of the juices in.

Re: Crock pot Q
I think it just helps it looks pretty. It probably does keep some of the juices in too.
