Crockpot question

Why is it that whenever I make something in it, it gets VERY liquidy?

For example, I tried making sweedish meatballs in it. I used the SAME exact ingredients as I would if I was cooking it on the stove. On the stove the sauce is nice and thick. In the crockpot, it's liquidy?

I don't get it...I want to love my crockpot...I really do...Chat Icon

Re: Crockpot question

I always use less liquid for a crockpot recipe than on the stove. I think its because the food in the crockpot cooks longer and a lower temp, so therefor less evaporation of liquids.

Try and cut the liquids in 1/2....then halfway through cooking check and see if you need to add more, It easier to add than to take away.

Re: Crockpot question

PP is correct....you do need to alter your recipe for a crockpot.

Re: Crockpot question

The steam has no where to go, but into the recipe. You have to take water you.

usually a crockpot recipe cooks for 6-8 hours on LOW or 3-4 hours high. Maybe that is why you are losing your liquid. Cooking it too long on high.
