I have one that just treated a basal cell carcinoma. Everything is taken care of, and I was told all is fine, but I have to follow-up in 6 weeks, but really did not care for the doctor - absolutely no personality and I felt he was not very thorough explaining things. So I'm searching for a new dr, hopefully one that I like enough as I plan on going 2x per year to keep my skin in check.

Any good dermatologists in the Babylon/Islip area? Thanks.

I went to advanced dermatology in west islip yesterday for the first time ever.
I wasn't a fan of the doctor I saw.

I wanted to have a mole checked out. He looked at it and said, " um, no. If you were reading your pregnancy book you would have read that moles change."

I said, "I'm aware of that, I have been reading them. But I believe this mole appeared prior." Chat Icon

That's wild.

I was there at 5:15.
Dr. Dipaltro... or something like that.

My first ever full body cancer scan was awkward too. Grabbing my boobs, pulling on my underwear with no notice.
I felt like he should have bought me drinks or dinner first.

Although I got the last laugh. He had to see a 7 month pregnant woman in a hot pink thong Chat Icon

LOL - on the thong!! OMG, too funny.

I think I totally saw you there! That is the same doctor!! I had a 6pm appt, I think i saw a pregnant lady walking out before I got called in. How funny....

My friend recommended a group in Bay Shore, but they don't take my insurance Chat Icon

I called my primary care dr's office and they gave me three other drs there that are good, so maybe I'll have better luck with them. I do NOT want to go back to this guy and am not sure what to do, I have to follow-up in 6 weeks. I just hope I can see another doctor.

WOW - too weird. I'm so glad to hear it's not just me hating this guy! I hope there are better drs in that practice because I am having issues finding another office that takes my insurance. Everyone is recommending this one in Bay Shore, but no good on the insurance.

I like Dr. Applebaum there (I've been seeing him for eczema & acne for years now), but my brother wasn't too impressed with him. He liked him, but couldn't put his finger on what didn't jive with him Chat Icon He saw a PA when he was there last week that he LOVED, but he can't remember his name. If he does, I'll let you know...

Thanks - my primary care's office recommended Dr. Fox, who is the director, and Dr. Loucas. I have to see if I can get appts with them. I'd prefer to see a dr over a PA only because I had the basal cell. I just want a second set of eyes to make sure there is nothing else. This guy yesterday annoyed me because when I had my scan a few weeks ago, he noticed a mole also and had that tested as a precaution even though he thought it was a simple mole (the basal cell was on my leg). When the results came back, he could not even interpret them!! I kept saying "what does that mean" and he just said when I come back for my follow-up he will check it again, but it did not come back as skin cancer.....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

So needless to say, I want to see someone else - just afraid that they won't allow it since he did the procedure. If that's the case, I'll suffer once more and just go to someone else next time - I plan on getting checked at least once per year.

Thanks again!!
