Cruelty Case - Manhattan Criminal Court
Harlem resident, Michael Johnson, who allegedly pummeled his dog into the floor and/or wall of his apartment in October 2006 returns to Hon. Judge Neil Ross' courtroom on Monday 1/28/08, facing misdemeanor charges of Torturing & Injuring Animals in violation of the Agricultural & Market Law, Sect 353. The two year old American Staffordshire Terrier-mix, now renamed Anthony (formerly called Predator by Johnson), has since recovered and is flourishing under the care of his foster parent, for the past 10 months. Johnson faces up to 1 year in jail and/or 3 years probation if found guilty. Johnson has stated he wants to retain custody of Anthony, which could happen if he is acquitted. If you work near the Criminal Court building please show your support for "Anthony". If your lunch hour falls during this time frame or coffee break please show you support by making an appearance, let the judge see the support behind Anthony.
It is vital that we have a packed courtroom for Anthony this Monday 1/28/08.... so please attend if you can from 10:00am to 1:00pm (Judge Neil Ross' courtroom on 5th floor of 100 Centre St in Downtown Manhattan). The police officer and others are due to testify in rebuttal.

I cannot imagine that it is even a possibility that he may regain custody of that dog.
I wish I lived closer I would be there
Can we write letters if we cannot be there is person?

Re: Cruelty Case - Manhattan Criminal Court
Any update yet? I'm just reading this for the first time. I would have been more than happy to have written a letter on behalf of the dog.
Why do horrible "people" like this guy think it's acceptable to do that to a dog? Specifically a pit bull. It's so sad.
They are docile, loving, loyal dogs that b/c of LOSERS like this guy get a bad rep.
So sad.
