cupcakes from scratch - recipe?
I'm making cupcakes for my DS' birthday and am looking for a cupcake recipe. I prefer to bake from scratch so I'd rather not use a box mix.
Looking for a vanilla cupcake recipe and maybe a red velvet or chocolate recipe also. Got the frosting down thanks to this site but now I need the actual cupcake part
Hoping to do a test run this weekend.

I didn't use an online recipe so don't have one to share. The only time I've made cupcakes from scratch was from the "Joy of Cooking" book I have. They came out great though. Classic white cupcakes.

There's an easy and yummy chocolate cake recipe on the back of the Hershey's cocoa can. (The batter is really thin but don't be alarmed. It bakes up nicely!) I used this as part of DD's birthday cake last week. It will also make about 30 cupcakes:
Hershey's Perfectly Chocolate Cake
As for vanilla cupcakes, my favorite is from Annie's Eats. It uses a real vanilla bean which is  but delicious!

These are the EXACT two recipes I was going to suggest! The Red Velvet recipe I use is from Paula Deen's cookbook so I don't have it online.
