Curious - CIO moms...
I know, I have some time, but I'm already planning my attack
When you started CIO, did you just do it for when you put DC to bed, or did you also let them CIO if they woke up during the night at the same time?
Or, did you do baby steps?
When we did CIO with Alex I started off by just letting her cry to sleep at bedtime, but still went to her if she woke during the night, and did that part later. I'm wondering if it makes more sense to do it all at the same time, and was wondering what your experiences were like doing this?

We never really had an issue with falling asleep, just staying asleep - so we did CIO for night wakings.

Yeah, come to think of it, Yael goes to sleep very easily at night, so perhaps we won't have to use it for that. My concern is that we'll probably start breaking her of the swaddle at that time, so it may change.

Re: Curious - CIO moms...
once we started CIO we did it for middle of the night wakings as well unless we knew DS was teething, in that case we would go in and give him tylenol or motrin and out him back down. he would cry harder but fall asleep faster that way. he rarely woke in the middle of the night.
i hope it works for this one

Re: Curious - CIO moms...
we, well i, started doing it in the middle of the night first... mainly because ds never gave us issues falling asleep until he was 9 months old... but when dh went to the night shift i refused to constantly get up for every cry so we started then

When I REALLY started-I did go in and comfort-Mommy's here give the binky(my kids had a habit of knocking the binkies out of their cribs until I got wise and put their bumpers in) and then leave-they would usually cry for a while but eventually go back to sleep-now they pretty much sleep through the night

Re: Curious - CIO moms...
Have done it twice, but my kids both started sleeping about 7 hours straight at around 2 months, so CIO was just to lengthen the amount of time. I change the feeding schedule once I get the ok from the pediatrician based on the baby gaining weight well. Adding more volume per feeding, but with less feeding so they can go through the night. DD#2, started sleeping through the night Monday. Can't say there was much of a CIO period, she cried for about 15 minutes Sunday night, not at all monday night, then last night she let out one wail and fell back to sleep. #1, we did a CIO of "see ya in the morning" one night. She cried but I promised myself I'd not go in until 6am. Well after than crying spell she slept till about 7am. Never woke in the middle of the night unless there was a good reason - which was rare. Nowadays she points to her crib to go to sleep.

Re: Curious - CIO moms...
We did both at the same time...BUT she was going to bed pretty good on her own but still waking at night...so that was our main problem. She was 8 months when we tried and she got it right away and started sleeping 12 hours a night.
