Curious: what is your "typical" monthly OB appointment like?
So I had my monthly appointment this morning (all is well, gained only 2 pounds!  ) I was there a mere 20 minutes, and while I'm not complaining about being in/out, I was kind of curious as to what everyone's typical monthly appointment entailed..? By typical I mean an appointment where you aren't having any big sono's or any other types of testing done, etc.
Such as - what exactly does your doctor or the nurses DO while you are there? For me, a typical routine appointment is:
* give a urine sample
* weigh-in
* blood pressure
* check the baby's heartbeat w/doppler
(all done by the nurse -)
* doctor comes in, looks at my file, feels my belly, measures my belly. Discusses w/me any recent past tests I had, etc, and lets me know what tests are coming up. Then asks if I have any questions --
Then I'm outta there! I have no other type of 'examination' ... I read sometimes people have their uterus checked to see how large it is or other types of more detailed 'exams" but they never do that on me?
Don't get me wrong - I love my doctors and am 100% satisfied with the practice, but sometimes I leave there and think "should there have been more" that happened? I don't ever feel rushed and they do always take the time to ask if I have questions, but yet I still sometimes think it's just too easy 
Just looking to see what your typical appointment entails..

Flee. This is pretty much how my visits go. He measures my belly with some sort of tape meaure and that's it.
One time I was in and out in 15 minutes.

My appts were pretty much the same - except the doctor check the babys heart rate

Thanks for the reassurance! See I honestly think I look for problems sometimes  I keep thinking "wait, shouldn't you be doing something ELSE?"

Pretty much the same except I have yet to be measured. Except for the last one when I had a surprise PAP.
eta: At the last appoitment, I was curious to see how he knew the baby was as big as it should be. He started feeling my belly up at the top and started talking in terms over my head.

Let's see....last month I think I was in/out in about 10/15 minutes.
Pee in a cup
Take my blood pressure
weigh in
all the above done by the nurse
Doctor comes in...asks me if I have any questions.
Looks at my chart to tell me about any tests.
Does a mini-sono to see/hear the baby's HB.
Go home
ETA: He has never measured anything with a tape measure yet

You girls are making me laugh with the tape measure for some reason ..
The first time the doctor measurured my belly was my last appointment, I was 17+ weeks. I really didn't have much of a belly and even the doctor was like "Ok, this is a waste today"
When I tell DH that they measure my belly with a tape measure he does  and says "don't they have more advanced technology" (Men  )

My DR. does the doppler. Actually mine just recently measured my tummy to see how big I was, and she said I was doing just fine

do a quick sono every visit to check their heartbeats

same as everyone else...
The nurse does the urine sample, weight and blood pressure, asks some questions
Then the Dr comes in, hears heartbeat, we talk for a few minutes, he gives me any prescriptions I need for vitamins or blood tests, sonos etc.
And that is pretty much it!

at week 28/29 appointment - We had a question and answer appointment - nothing was done beside finger prick and pee in a cup

Everything's the same for me, except the urine sample. The want first morning urine, so they give me a cup. I have to do it the morning of my check-up and leave it in the fridge until it's time to leave
