cut in eye - dog

my shitzu has a cut in his eye - they called it an ulcer. He has ointment - anyone have any experience with this - it doesn't look like it is healing and it is almost a week, we go back tomorrow, just curious if this happened to anyone's pet.

A cut on his eyeball? Or on his lid?

I only have experience with cuts on the lid, I'm sorry. I hope he gets better soon! I know it took a really long time for the lid cuts to heal and he doesn't grow hair on the scars anymore. Maybe it just takes a while.

Ali scratched her eye (cornea) somehow, she had a few different ointments/gels we had to put on for a while, and she had a cone to keep her from scratching again. It did repair, but we still have one of the ointments to increase her tear production in that eye. You can still see where she scratched it but it's healed according to the vet. She sometimes tries to rub her eyes with her paws, but we make sure to give her the eye stuff once in the morning and once at night. It took a while for it to heal fully though, way longer than a week. not sure if this is the same, but that was our experience
