D&C
Does anyone know if a D&C will possibly harm a future pregnancy? I've read that it may weaken the uterus/cervix and possibly cause scar tissue.
Also, has anyone who has had a D&C after miscarriage received any helpful information on the cause of it from sending the tissue to the lab? Like does it always just say chromosomal abnormality or has anyone heard a different cause?

Re: D&C
I had a D and C after miscarriage in September of 2009, I had a healthy baby boy in September of 2010. I had a VERY uneventful pregnancy with Jeremy. I DO have scar tissue on my cervix but it had been due to a laser procedure to zap pre-cancerous cells on my cervix and that is what kept me from conceiving naturally in the first place - both of my pregnancies were results of unmedicated IUIs.
My m/c was due to a chromosomal abnormality - Trisomy 16. I wasn't planning on finding out - my RE just told us - but I am glad I did because I knew that there wasn't something wrong with either one of us and though it was painful, it gave me peace and closure.

Re: D&C
I had a d & c in August and am 8 weeks pregnant again now. I was never told it would affect me getting pregnant again. I had my tissue sent and it came back with 47 chromosomes. They said it can happen to anyone and it was not a fertility issue, just happens sometimes. I am so sorry you are going through this. Its not easy. I am sending

Re: D&C
I had a d&c and I am pregnant now. I guess you can never be 100% sure what will happen with any type of surgery but a d & c is a very minor procedure and very common so it really shouldn't be a major concern. Good luck.

I had one in July and received a BFP in November after two anovulatory cycles. I am now 7 weeks pregnant! Good luck. I'm sorry that you have to be going through this.

Re: D&C
i just had one. doc said there are risks and there can be complications that affect future fertility. i specifically asked that question. normally the surgery is fine and everything is ok. i felt that waiting to miscarry on my own could be just as risky, i wanted to do the genetic testing and i wanted to have some closure - i don't think i could have waited it out...i went ahead and had the procedure friday. hopefully within the next few weeks i'll have some results regarding the genetic testing...

I had a D&C at 13 wks i have gotten pregnant after. My problem is not with getting pregnant its being able to sustain it. While it can cause scar tissue, you shouldnt be too concerned since its your first time. As for sending the fetus ( i never lost the baby so i had everything still intact) i didnt get a Chromosomal Abnormality. Everything was actually fine with mine. So i never had a reason why the baby heartbeat just stopped. They sometimes these things just happen.

Re: D&C
I had a D&C in January of this year.
I suffered very odd and sever cramping for a complete and full 10 days after the D&C. Something just wasn't right with teh D&C. I don't know what, because I didn't realize what I experienced wasn't normal until reading other posts on here recently.
I am also currently between 10 and 11 weeks pregnant now.
