D&C question
My D&C is on Monday and I don't really know what to expect for the day and those following????
For those of you who have unfortunately been in this position - what can I expect from the actual procedure - how long did you bleed for after, when did you get your next period
TIA

Re: D&C question
I have unfortunately had 2, one being last week. I had light spotting and mild cramps. For 48 hours following the procedure you can't drive. So figure you'll need atleast 2 days to recover. It's more emotionally upsetting than physical. I took an extra 2 days off, just because I wasn't ready to go back to work.
Last time my AF came back in 4 weeks.
Good luck. I'm sorry you have to go through this.

Re: D&C question
Hi, I'm sorry that you have to go through this. I had a D&C back in June. The procedure itself is painless as you are under anesthesia (sp). I had it done at Good Samaritan Hospital and I must say, while this is not a pleasant experience emotionally by any means, they were wonderful to me.
I bled for about 10 days, very light bleeding. I had minor cramping that only lasted a day or so. My AF took a long time to show up (7 weeks), however, most people I know had it show up within 4 weeks. I had very irregular cycles, so I blame it on that. After my first AF, my cycles were down to 30-33 days, which was amazing for me.
As far as the day of and days right after...I was going easy that day, but was back to running within two days. Basically the doctor will probably tell you that if you have no pain and the bleeding is not too much, you can resume normal activities.
I wish you all the best. Sorry again that you have to go through with this.

Re: D&C question
I have had a few natural losses and a D&C and teh D&C was easier and less painful for me. Though I had laproscopy at teh same time so maybe I was just distracted from the other pains. All in all it is a simple procedure.
