D&C question

For those of you who have had a D&C, what was the recovery like? After how many days did you feel back to "normal" and that you could return to work?

Unfortunately it was confirmed tonight that we do not have a viable pregnancy. We were somewhat expecting this since there was no heartbeat at last week's appointment but it's of course still very disappointing especially since it was our first time pregnant. Trying to be optimistic though about the future.

Thanks so much for your help. This board is so helpful.

I am so sorry Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I lost triplets 6 months ago at nearly 8wks and had a d&c on a Friday. I returned to work on Monday. However, on Saturday I felt well enough to go out and do things.

I think emotionally it's hard, but physically it's not a big deal procedure Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: D&C question

Just like pennycat says its more an emotional recovery then physical. I lost my pregnancy at 8w & had D&C. The same day I was doing normal things to keep myself busy and had no discomfort at all the following days. I bled lightly for about 10 days but did not get my AF for 9weeks post D&C. I was knocked out for my D&C and went home abt 1.5 hrs after I woke up.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I actually did not feel well right away. It took me 2 days to feel well enough to go out. I was very crampy.

First, I am really sorry for your loss!

As some of the PP posters stated, I was not really up to doing anything the day of the surgery, but the day after I felt fine. It was definitely more of an emotional thing for me, too.

Ditto to this. I was just sleepy from the anesthesia the first day. Felt fine the next day.
I had no cramping or bleeding until a week later...bled for a week. Had minor cramps on and off but nothing too painful.
My hormones on the other hand were out of control....watch out for that. The hormones come crashing down and I felt like a psychotic b!tch some days...was extremely hormonal until AF arrived a little over 5 weeks later.
So sorry for your loss! Hang in there!

Re: D&C question

I actually felt fine too. The anesthesia was the worst part and it constipated me alot and gave me bad gas pains. Other than that I felt ok but rested for 4 days. I did not work out for 2 weeks though.

Re: D&C question

Thank you everyone for all of your support. I had the D&C done this week. I actually felt great almost immediately after I woke up from surgery. Now we just can't wait to get through 1 cycle so that we can start trying again.

Thanks again - you are all so helpful!

Re: D&C question

Its the emotional part that is the most difficult. I had my D and C on a Friday and was at work on Monday. This was back in Sept. and I am still emotionally healing from it. Some days are better than others

Hang in there, and it will happenChat Icon
