D and C
Got it confirmed today, baby is not growing, no heartbeat. They are going to schedule me for a D and C since my body doesn't seem to be letting go. What should I expect afterwards physically? Last miscarriage passed on its own naturally so this is new to me. I am just so tired....I don't think I can do this again.

Oh no...I'm so sorry to hear this. I don't have experience with D&C, I miscarried naturally. Just wanted to say I'm sorry.

Sorry to hear about this. I had a D&C. They gave me a prescription for Tylenol. They put you under for the procedure. I rested that day and returned to work the next day. I spotted with some clotting for about 2 weeks. I was at 8 weeks when baby stopped growing. You will go back to doctor and they keep checking your levels until they go down. I got my period again 5 weeks after. Sorry your are going through this. If you have any other questions let me know.

This is pretty much what happened to me. The first time I miscarried naturally. The waiting was hell but it wasn't so bad pain-wise. The post monitoring is going to get to me since I know my levels are a lot higher this time. Thank you for the information. I just hope the physical pain isn't too bad.

I don't remember my d&c very well. I think I blocked it from my memory :( it was definitely more emotionally traumatizing than physical. I had it done 2 days before Thanksgiving. I had some cramping the next day but was "fine" for the holiday. My thoughts are with you. The experience has changed me profoundly and has made me much more grateful and stronger than I ever thought I could be ::hugs::

No problem. Physical pain wasn't too bad with the prescription Tylenol they gave me. I was tired and it's emotionally exhausting too. I wouldn't suggest what I did going to work the next day. Take the day to rest. I started a new job went to work the next day when we got a lot of snow not the best idea. Good luck with everything. Hope the pain isn't too bad. As for the monitoring it took 3 weeks after for my levels to come down, mine were high before the D&C.

I am so sorry. I had 2 and they were not painful at all. I spotted for a few days afterwards but that was about it. I could have gone to work the following day but emotionally I needed another day. I got my period 6 weeks later with both d&c's

Re: D and C
Thank you ladies so much for you prayers and information. I go in tomorrow and although I'm nervous I'm ready. The doctors keep saying statistics are on my side to have a healthy pregnancy. Maybe because there are no real answers, but I am not sure i want to take that risk. I know I don't have to decide today or tomorrow or even a few months from now but I'm going to be 35 and I know that changes things. Please keep praying for me ladies this has been a long road to have to travel twice in such a small timeframe.

Re: D and C
Thanks everyone. Everything went smoothly. The nurses and doctors couldn't have been nicer. I feel good, very minimal cramping, just really tired. My OB is having genetic testing on the tissue and I am waiting to hear back from my RE office to see if they can order testing for clotting issues, etc. I feel a little better mentally, just taking one day at a time instead of letting my mind go to dark places. I think my next step is consulting with Dr. Kofinas and Dr Brenner in a few months since they are so highly recommended by so many. I will do ANYTHING to get answers or try to prevent this from happening again. As much as I want to quit, I just can't throw in the towel yet. Thank you for all of your kind posts and messages. Knowing you are not alone and that there is hope is very comforting.
