Dachshund Owners! i NEED you!
if you have a mini-D can you recommend your Vet? and even more- does anyone have experience with Intervertebral Disk Disease in this breed?
i am at my wits end and am at total loss as to what to do. i'll try to make this short. My mini had surgery 2 yrs ago to correct her spine (ruptured disk in neck) she recovered great. she is now experiencing the same horrible symptoms since march: stiffness, crooked walking, neck spasms. mornings are the worst. she is not paralyzed but looks as though she will be any second. i am seriously thinking of putting her down b/c i can't bear to see her in pain anymore and cannot afford to put her through surgery again. she is currently on steroids to allow her some comfort, and movement. then she has moments when she moves fine and i can't bear the thought of putting her down  yet it seems unfair to keep her in this condition too.
i cannot seem to find a vet who knows anything about this or who has experience in it so as a last resort i am asking here. if you read this much-THANK YOU- i am desperate and have been AGONIZING over this situation. i love this dog.

I am not sure where you are located but I have a Dachshund and he goes to Dr. Sito in Centereach

Dr. Sito owns a few dachshunds so I am sure he is very fimiliar with Intervertebral Disk Disease.

Give your dog a lot of warm water baths and let her walk around in the tub and fill it high enough so it's over her back.

my parents have a dachaund had that same surgery about a yr ago and knock wood he is doing okay. These poor little dogs are very prone for this type of injury.
My parents take him to the aniamal hosptial in planview. They are wonderful.

My parents had dachshunds for over 25 years and two have had that surgery. My DH is a veterinarian, and is very familiar with this issue. You should probably go to a neurologist, and the one he recommends is:

we use a 24 hour vet emergency hospital in Brooklyn. My dog has crazy seizures. If you need to see a neurologist i recommend them. They have an MRI machine on site
