Dads moving on?

Does anyone else struggle with this? My dad moved on quickly (in my opinion) and I don't mind per se that he is dating I just am not comfortable having this woman in my life AT ALL.

Am I horrible?

Re: Dads moving on?

i'm sure if it was happening, i would be upset but my mom passed away last year and i just wish my dad would go out and socialize more. only thing is, it was my mom who took him out so you can't teach an old dog new tricks right?

Re: Dads moving on?

I will admit when my mom first died, I didn't want my dad with anyone. Now that it's been 3 years, I've kind of come to terms with the fact that he may bring someone home. I don't like it, but I think I can accept it better now. He does date, but since my grandmother (my mom's mom) lives with me, he won't bring anyone around to upset her.

Re: Dads moving on?

I have the opposite problem with my mom - i posted it on the other board - my father passed away 6 years ago - my mom was only 42 - and she hasnt been on a single date!

she works in the restuarant industry - she's alwasy saying how men are talking to her (she doesnt wear her ring anymore) - I keep telling her to go out!!! but she doesnt want to. I just feel she is so young and she has so much life to share with someone....especially since i will be moving out next year, she'll be all alone.

Re: Dads moving on?

my Dad is young- 56 next week - and I have come to terms with him dating- I hate the thought of him being alone-about as much as I hate the thought of a new woman- but my life is easier if I try to see it from his point of view

he is not looking to replace my Mom- he knows he never will- but he wants someone to hang out with and have dinner with- that's not so bad I guess

Re: Dads moving on?

My dad started dating ummm 3-5 months after my mother's death and I got rid of her very quickly....but she came back 6 months later. I had to give up on pushing her out the door...then she moved to another state! *does the happy dance*
Then there was his 2nd gf..she was ummm errr not old enough to have been my mother! Even dh thought she was odd. Has anyone heard the comic act, "You might be a redneck if..."? We were out to eat....well, I got up to use the ladies room right after the food came out and I came back to an empty plate!!! The woman ate her plate and mine in about 2 minutes. Needless to say, I am currently a size zero and I think it stems back to that first time she ate my food. I now eat fast and small portions!!! I could go on all day about her, but I will bite my toungue...*bites toungue* Chat Icon Chat Icon
