Daily face cream/serums

Posting here because it has most traffic

My go to day and night cream has been philosophy hope in a jar for years. It’s time to replenish but honestly, it hasn’t been doing much for me.

44.5 years old, skin seems sad lol dull, pores, still breaking out like a teenager, more fine lines etc.

What is everyone using?

I have dr Dennis grossman day advanced Retinol & Ferulic intense wrinkle cream sitting in my Sephora cart. I figured I’d check here for some recommendations

I've been using a mix of DHC and Dr. Haushka.

I double cleanse at night.
I use a facial oil and moisturizer at night.

I just ordered some serums from DRMTLGY and am really happy so far. Do you see a dermatologist? Get a script for Trentinoin-it’s literally the best for aging skin. Also, check Costco for amazing creams-cant beat their quality/price. I started using shiseido and am very happy.

Re: Daily face cream/serums

Things I find made a difference for me:

Chemical Exfoliation a few times a week. Makes the skin smoother, brighter more even textured, fights the finer lines make up goes on better.
I use these
External Image
Cheapest on Amazon and I cut them in half so I get 2 uses out of one wipe- because I'm cheap. Chat Icon

This Retinol serum at night.
External Image
Start out slow- will cause a little sensitivity and redness but work your way up to every other night.

This serum at night (on nights I'm not using the retinol) and in the AM :
Pricey but I do feel it works.
External Image

Also- before my morning moisturizer I use this- in the winter when I'm dry. It really plumps up the skin and helps it stay more hydrated.

I also started drinking collagen recently- not sure it will help but I figure it can't hurt

I try to stay away from fragrances and as many chemicals as possible cause I have sensitive skin. I’ve been using Paula’s Choice but I’m still looking for something better and without so many ingredients. I might try Poofy Organics or Beautycounter.

Retinol is actually key in anti aging.
It's not drying once your skin gets used to it.
In fact, derms will prescribe Trentinoins..which are stronger, prescription strength retinoids.
My skin has never looked better since starting on Retinol and it's not dry at all.
The key is starting slow so your skin can adjust

I'm 42 and have no wrinkles. How i do it... by using Marula Facial oil every night after cleansing and Gua Sha tool to massage it in. Gua Sha is a chinese tool used to do a specific facial massage to prevent sagging, bags and wrinkles. Helps me alot.

As far as creams and cleansers, I like an Asian brand called Tatcha. A bit pricey but quality.

You’re going to laugh at me, but I love the Trader Joe’s skincare products. I use their face wash, hyaluronic acid, antioxidant serum and gel moisturizer.

My SIL works for a famous “lifestyle” brand and gives me some of her free stuff- like several hundred dollar serums and $90 face wash and I told her to stop because I like the TJs stuff better.

true Nell, but it's very drying to the skin, and in the winter when skin is extra dry, its not ideal to use

The Dermatologist they had on the show suggested this product, works like retinol without the drying. I have sensitive skin, anything harsh or drying causes redness. I never tried these products, but I'm thinking of it. When I saw OP post, and saw this, I thought of this post

I promise I will not laugh at you because their moisturizer is amazing. Its the only one that truly moisturized my skin. I'm not totally sold on their anti-aging, although I haven't tried them either, but I really liked the moisturizer.

Right now, I use Neutrogena Hydroboost during the day, Olay regenerist with retinol at night and Roc Eye Cream. I have a friend who is a beauty editor and she said that P&G and the big brands have so much more funding to put into R&D that their products are just as effective, if not more so, than the fancy ones.

I don't do anything too intense because realistically, your genes will determine how you age more than anything you put on your face.

That being said, I use the Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 line. I use their cleanser, nighttime cream and daytime moisturizer. I keep it super simple as I am almost 47 and still have no wrinkles, fine lines or otherwise.

Regarding retinol, particularly around the eyes which can be sensitive, my dermatologist recommended easing into using any retinol eye creams by using them every other day. You can also, mix a little of the eye cream with plain CeraVe moisturizer cream, it will help to reduce any dryness or inflammation as you adjust to the retinol. Chat Icon
