Dakota Fanning to play Jane in New Moon (Twilight sequel)

and they are tying to find an actor to play Alec.


With Dakota Fanning tapped for the role of Volturi vampire Jane in Twilight sequel New Moon, the casting of Alec, Jane's undead twin brother, is director Chris Weitz's next challenge.

Compared to Jane, "his hair was darker, and his lips were not as full, but he was just as lovely," writes author Stephenie Meyer of Alec in New Moon.

Possessing the ability to numb a victim's senses, quiet but deadly Alec could be well-played by Tom Felton, who is known as Harry Potter's foe Draco Malfoy. Some other suggestions? High School Musical's Lucas Grabeel could follow his serious turn in Milk with an even darker one as the bloodsucker. And French actor Gaspard Ulliel of Hannibal Rising would bring a terrifying pedigree to the character, while Freddie Highmore, who sweetly stole scenes in Willy Wonka and Finding Neverland, could bring out his bad side.

As two of the Volturi's highest-ranking guards, Alec and Jane are fearsome foes of immortal Edward and his human love Bella, to be played again in New Moon by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Hmm, not sure who I like for Alec. I don't love Dakota Fanning for Jane. I pictured her more like Kristin Chenoworth in my mind.

I read that America Ferrara auditioned for Emily (Sam's fiancee) and Vanessa Hudgens for Leah Clearwater.

Wait, which one was Jane? Was she the one who could read minds kind of like Edward? Could someone remind me - I'd love to know who Dakota Fanning is playing.

I've only read Twilight and New Moon - haven't yet read Eclipse or Breaking Dawn so no spoilers, PLEASE! That's why I'm afraid to Google her.

Jane is the really short vampire in Italy. She can make people feel like they are in extreme pain by looking at them. Alec is her "twin" who I don't think they explain his skill in New Moon, but they do in Breaking Dawn.

Ah, okay, thanks. I only kind of remember her. I think I read through that part really fast, rushing to see them get out of there and have a happy reunion (I'm such a 15-year-old at heart!) that I didn't remember which Volturi was which.

I think it's an interesting choice for Jane.. but I didn't think they would choose someone so young even though Jane is very petite.. I wonder who they will choose for Alec

I think Dakota Fanning is an excellent choice for Jane. I can totally envision her in that role.

I like her in that role, but it wasn't a very large part (at least, in the book that is).
