Damaged/breaking/change in texture Hair help
I have long hair & used to love my it & now I'm not sure what's going on.
The bottom back of my neck has turned really curly & is short (almost like it completely broke off?
And the rest has just become dry & difficult.
I only color to cover greys; blow it out only about 1x Week.
There has been so many variables, so I'm not sure the cause: I did 2x color my own hair (did I damage it?) I came off BCP (not to get pregnant LOL) Been under stress, more than normal since January.
Any recommendations on how to help fix this would be great. (Products, treatments, techniques)

Damaged/breaking/change in texture Hair help
Biotin helps a lot with hair growth, I take the Vitamelts brand and have seen a difference to my thin hair. I also do a coconut oil treatment about once a week where I sleep with it and that helps too

Re: Damaged/breaking/change in texture Hair help
I agree with the Biotin. I take a hair skin and nail formula from CVS with a lot of Biotin in it and it works well.
Coming off the BCP might be the culprit- hormones can really change your hair and fluctuating hormones can wreck havoc.
I read somewhere that your hair changes every few years too- it goes through cycles.
I don't think coloring is the culprit- unless you were going lighter and bleaching/highlighting. Coloring actually made my hair healthier because it was depositing color and sealing the hair shaft in a way. (Highlighting and lightening was what KILLED my hair). So unless you were going lighter I don't think the color harmed your hair.
If it's feeling dry, I'd start doing hair masques at least once a week. I like Goldwell hair masques. You can find them on Amazon
Also, what I do when my hair is looking dry and stressed is pick a morning when I am going to be home cleaning or whatever- like a Saturday morning and get in the shower, wet my hair, and apply a hair mask or deep conditioner. Comb it through and just put it up in a clip. You can also put a shower cap on or wrap it in saran wrap and a towel. I then go about my business and leave it on for an hour or more to let it really sink in. Then back in the shower and wash it out.
It really helps with the dryness.
I also really like It's a 10 Miracle Leave in Treatment with Keratin

I love Fekkai Technician Color Care Masque - my hair feels so much softer after I use it.

Do you use coconut oil straight out of the bottle?

Re: Damaged/breaking/change in texture Hair help
Great input!
I think I'll definitly get back into regular conditioning masks.
I'll often put it on my hair before I go run. Guaranteed hour + on my hair! & have to shower after anyways.
I was using phyto9 & some of their other products. Don't know whether it was working or not? Now I started trying Aveda smooth infusion, to see if it'll make a difference.
I'm open to ANYTHING! I'm so sad over this!!!

yes, I use the trader joes one and just slab it all over my head. I have a little bit of dry scalp so I really rub it in and then put my hair in a bun on the top of me head over night (put a towel on your pillow). In the morning I wash it out and it is like new hair for me

Re: Damaged/breaking/change in texture Hair help
I have this problem too and have been coloring my own hair but when I went to a hairdresser this problem was worse.
I have been using Pantene Argan Spray in my hair every day and I have noticed that the texture of my hair has improved. It was curling, getting frizzy and falling out. HTH
