dark circles under eyes
my 2 oldest boys, 2 and 3, have dark circles under their eyes...the dr brushes it off, but i cant help wondering what it is....could they have a vitamin deficiency....anyone have any insight???
they are not great sleepers, but am not sure if this is the answer

i have a 9 mo old and recently read in one of those baby center emails that it could mean seasonal allergies. Just had DD's checkup and dr. said at her age you just can't tell...could just be from the winter colds...she said it's nothing to worry about now.

Are there any other symptoms?
My 2 yo DS also gets dark circles under his eyes. I think it may be allergies so am getting him tested this weekend. He's also very dry under the eyes and has a few very rough patchy skin on his limbs.

Both DD and I have this. I think part of it is genetic. Could also be allergies as I have awful seasonal allergies.

My 8 yr old cousin had this for years, they finally tested her for diabetes. She always looked tired, white as a ghost, and turns out, she had it.
Not saying your children do, but it couldn't hurt to test.
eta: For her, once she was on insulin, the dark circles disappeared.

DS has them too. It is from allergies. He first got them as a newborn. He had a milk protein and soy allergy. Now at 17 months old, he is still allergic to soy. I will notice the dark circles when he has had too much soy...

DD gets them when she is congested and she has dust mite allergy... it's either genetics or allergies or a bad cold (congestion)

My cousin has this - he looked like a panda the circles were so dark. It turns out it was allergies.

It can definitely be a sign for allergy and congestion building up. The allergy can range from seasonal allergy, to dust mites to dander from cats and dogs.
