dark wood floors and dust
For those of you with Dark wood floors, are you having problems with constant dust showing? My DH and I are debating on weather to get dark wood stain (Minwax Jacobean) or a medium dark wood.
We are concerned with the dust! We have dark wood furniture and I have to dust it 2X per week.
Any help would be great! Thanks!

One idea - get an air purifier - DH and I bought two - one for the kitchen and one for the LR in our apt, and we;ve noticed that there's very little dust now on our appliances, or the glass furniture, etc.

Re: dark wood floors and dust
we wanted darker floors but every single person i spoke to steered me away from it. i'm not unhappy that i didn't. as it was explained to me dark floors are like getting a dark colored car. just like a black car shows dirt and scratches more than lighter colors, its the same with floors. we went with a med. dark and its very livable.

You can definitely see the dust, but I wouldn't trade them for lighter ones, I love the way they look.....
I just figure that it forces me to keep the house cleaner.
Buy a swiffer and you'll be fine!

Re: dark wood floors and dust
I agree get an air purifier. I live in downtown Manhattan have one dog, one cat and live right off the FDR drive. I used to have to dust at least once a day and pass the swiffer on my floors to keep the dust away. I got an air purifier and it has cut down the dust considerably. When you change the filter you'll be amazed at how much dust you actually have. They're a good investment.

We have Brazilian Cherry floors in our living and dining room. You really do not see the dust unless the sun hits it the right way. If I am not showing the house I only dust or vacuum them once a week, if I show it then it gets done each time
