Day care costs
Im going to start looking into to some local day care centers around my area. Would anyone mind posting or even FM'ing what they pay a week / or month for infant care.
I may need to go back to work temporarily after maternity leave for benefits reasons..im not sure yet. I want to have some gauge of pricing when i look at some nearby places. My mom may be able to stay out by me 2 or 3 days in the week, but she does have my sick grandma to care for so i cant be certain Mom will be around.
I live in levittown pa, but im sure the prices arent that much different than NY.
TIA!

Re: Day care costs
I think prices can be pretty different from each state or area. I'm paying $280 a week at my place in Long Island. I looked at a lot of places and the average is about $300 a week for infants. You can't do part-time b/c babies can't share cribs so even if your DC goes part-time you have to pay for the full week till they're out of a crib and on a mat

Re: Day care costs
Prices definately vary so it's hard to compare. Where I live, they even vary by town/county!
For example, our top 2 choices, were a difference per month for the same type of quality care was almost $400! As it stands, I have to move my DD due to my office being relocated so she is going to the place that we nixed because of the $$ in the first place. Their rates are going up in September too.
Since I got approved to work part time, the daycare I am currently wait listed on, I'll be able to pay part time rates for my infant.

Re: Day care costs
It does vary state to state and LI is pricey. out in LI the average is about 1200-1400 a month while my friend in Phoenix pays $600 fulltime for a month at a place that is considered expensive out there

Re: Day care costs
I've had prices from $200-$350/week for full time infant. So the prices to vary even on Long Island.
BTW - My DH aunt used to live in Levittown, PA.

Re: Day care costs
I am going to pay 1700 per month starting in September. It is pricey, but I live in Park Slope and I was happy just to get DD in a place. This one happens to be well regarded. It's from 8-6 and they follow the NYC school schedule, which works for me b/c I am a teacher.
