Day care recommendations in Suffolk
I currently have a F/T live-out nanny but I am probably going to switch to part time - working in the office on Thursdays & Fridays if I can find P/T day care for my twin boys.
I live in Nassau (East Meadow) but I work in Suffolk right near Exit 57 on the LIE. I think it would be better to find a place near work to bring the boys so that I can have the ride here with them and also if anything happens I will be close and can run there. I am not that familiar with the area and am wondering if anyone has any recommendations of day care centers near here (Islandia, Hauppauge)? There is a Tutor Time about 3 mins away but I looked on that NYS website and saw pretty scary recent violations!
Any info/recommendations would be a huge help! Thanks!

Are you talking about the Tutor Time in Holbrook? My sister is the Asst. Director & she said those violations are from one woman who was immediately fired when they saw what was happening. They had to report it to the state. She has been there 11 years w/o problems. My DD goes there now & the people are wonderful!

No - the one in Islandia on Suffolk Ave & Vets Highway. The violation that made me most concerned was "A staff member must never leave a child unattended in any motor vehicle or other form of transportation"!
I think Holbrook is farther east, right? I was kind of hoping to find something on the way to work (west of Vets Hwy) but I am keeping my options open...

Yes, it is east. There is a childtime in Hauppauge - On Adams Avenue off Motor Parkway. My nephew's GF used to work there - they are a subsidiary of Tutor Time. I don't have any other info, though.

How old are your children? The Laurel Hill school is great for preschoolers.. and they have transportation.

I don't know anyone who goes to either center but in Smithtown there is a Tutor Time on 347 near Famous Daves BBQ (a little further up from the Watermill) and on Terry Road there is a Kindercare.

Early Discoveries is on Smithtown Avenue in Ronkonkoma, across from the airport. Have used them for many years and would recommend them.

BEST Learning Center is where DS goes. They follow a teachers schedule (which I am not) but I only use them a couple times a week so I can make it work. They had no violations that I found and I have been happy for the most part.
