Daycare - staffing changes
If there is a staffing change at your daycare - such as the lead teacher leaving, do they let you know ahead of time?

Re: Daycare - staffing changes
Nope. There's such a big turnover at daycares. I'd just ask about it after the fact. As long as they have a decent resume working with kids, my kid likes the new teacher, they did a background check, etc then I'm fine. I expect it more at daycares and have seen it a lot. Some daycare teachers are there for years and years. The younger ones come and go.

Daycare - staffing changes
Thanks! Most of the rooms have had the same lead teacher for a long time. The infant 2 room where DS currently is, not so much.

Re: Daycare - staffing changes
when DS was in daycare, they told us a week or so ahead of time. the lead teacher was moving to the infant room, and she trained the new lead teacher for a while before she left.

They never give us any notice. They just introduce us to the new person.

Daycare - staffing changes
I received an email last week regarding administrative changes that will be occurring over the next month - no changes in staffing in the classroom have occurred yet, but considering they notified me of the admin changes, I think they would for classroom changes (unless the teacher provided no notice, that's a different situation).

They don't tell us. It just happens and she's been going there since she was 4 months and must have had 4 different "teachers".

Re: Daycare - staffing changes
They try to tell us when it is a major change, like the lead teacher. It is a smaller center and they don't have too much of a turnover (except in the infant room).

They don't tell us but I think they should. I've complained about that before.

Daycare - staffing changes
If they give notice - it's usually a week or two. Sometimes they don't tell us at all.
We just got a new director which has helped with communications. And hopefully will help with turnover (treat your employees well, maybe they will stay a bit longer).
