Daycare centers - how to start researching (esp. helpful if you can recommend in Midtown Manhattan)
Can anyone recommend any daycare centers near midtown (Grand Central area)
DH and I are thinking of putting DS in daycare once DC#2 comes. He will be 2 1/2.
I'm thinking the easiest thing to do would be to find something close to where I work (48th & Park) but I'm at a loss as to how to start looking.
If anyone has suggestions on how to start researching sites or know of any offhand, I would greatly appreciate suggestions.
I did a search and could only find the YMCA at 47th & 3rd.
Thanks!!

honestly, i looked up what places were nearby
check their state violations report -weed down
searched the name on here, reviewed posts for likes/dislikes- weed down further
then called them for pricing/hours/wait list time- final weed down prior to checking them out.
check them out in order of where you think will be best, and if you have control, stop when you find one you love otherwise you might go crazy liking some stuff other centers have

I think there's a couple of Bright Horizons centers in that area. I am enrolled in a backup center in Rock Center but I think there might be others in that area that take kids full time.

There is a daycare center around 55th and Park; there's also a Bright Horizons in the low 50s on Lex. I don't know the name of the first place, but I do remember when I was getting physical therapy for my hand, the therapist used it - it's completely unmarked and hard to find.

You can search on this site:
New York Child Care
It will also show any and all violations.
Scroll on the left, down to Children and Youth, and then click on Child Care.
Good Luck!
