Daycare Cost
We are looking into daycare costs and have no idea what the running average is.
We are seeing some expenses per hour some per week some per month.
If your dc is in a daycare setting - private home, center, etc can you share the average cost and if it includes food.
I think we found one I like - as per a LIFer suggestion (thx!) and just want to get a hold of cost so we can budget.
PS - DC will be over 12 months old at time of daycare if that makes a difference
Thanks
I know this is personal so feel free to FM if you are not comfortable posting!

Re: Daycare Cost
I'm curious also.....i'll be going back to work at the end of the month; we have a babysitter lined up but I'm not really sure what pay to offer her or what the going rate is...I don't want to go too low or too high since its only for a couple hours a day in my home.
Thanks in advance!
By the way, i'm new here - how are the emote-icons inserted?

Re: Daycare Cost
I have a sitter we use 3 days a week.........DS is the only child there. DS goes to her home. It's no more then 9 hours, sometimes less when DH goes in a little later. We pay $60 a day. That was what she aske for.......I would have paid more though! (I had spoke to one other person who wanted $10 an hour and she watched other kids too)
And the emoticons are easy!! When you reply to a post, look to the left. Click on whichever one you want to use! It will show up in the message area .......

I pay $307 a week for a daycare center. The cost includes extended hours, and is M-F.

Re: Daycare Cost
we pay $1470 a month for a daycare center. We have to provide the foof for our son - he is in the infant room, and will be there until he is 18 months.
The center is open M-F, 7-7.

Re: Daycare Cost
We had a babysitter when Dd was an infant and we paid $10 per hour. She wanted $15 but we ended up offering $10 per hour. Now that she's in a daycare center it was $1200 per month for full time M-F and now she's two days per week for $690 per month. HTH

Re: Daycare Cost
Thanx!!
I was thinking along those lines too -- maybe around $9 to $10 dollars an hour -- I don't expect her to do anything but watch DS. One person I had considered using hinted to me that at her last job she was given $12 dollars an hour or $100 per day (for an 8 hour day).
hmmmm ... I would start babysitting at that rate -- I would make more than working full time.
Wow - daycares cost alot more than I expected .... I guess because infants take such one on one care.

Re: Daycare Cost
$1185 a month for a daycare center. We have to provide food, she’s in the infant room
The center is open M-F, 7:30-6:00, with late/early hours available on request at no cost.
It’s a lot of money, yes. But I really really love this place. Its 4 kids to one person. But she is awesome. Its something not easily described but AJ loves her and she is just so kind and nurturing, pays tons of attention to AJ, is such a pro with the kids but also very easy about following our instructions or wants. She’s just awesome and worth every last penny.
Nothing makes me feel better than when AJ at only one month there, smiles when she sees the lady and the lady smiles for AJ. Its like having another family member!
AJ loves watching things and really likes the interaction with the other kids even tho they are older than her (still not walking though). She loves all the toys and activities, etc. Its just great!

Re: Daycare Cost
$300/week - it is family daycare - open 7:30 -5:30. DS has been going since he was 3 months old. Only negative is that you have to pay every week even is DS doesn't go that week.
