daycare drop off day #3 - update pickup wwyd/vent?
heartbreaking
Pick up: Ok so I had my plan...the minute dd sees me she starts crying and screaming for me so at the end of the day they put the dc in one room for pick up so I figured before I go in to get her I will go and get her stuff first. This way I can enjoy getting her and not have to worry about getting all the stuff...
I walk into the room to get her stuff and not two seconds later I hear who is that...the Asst manager had dd...dd lights up and then starts screaming for me. The ASSt.manager hands her to me and she stinks. I ask dd if she pooped and looked at the ASSt.mang she saids I dont think so. I asked for her gram (where they write everything down) she says its in the other room. Then she just waves to dd and says bye.
Now I have a screaming 13 month old with a stinking dirty diaper. I go to start changing her and realize ALL her diaper stuff is in the other room. So now I have a screaming baby with a poopy diaper half on/off. Thankfully my pocketbook is now a diaper bag so I had back up...DD is still carrying on and I'm almost in tears trying to calm her down and get her stuff together.
Finally I went into the other room where there were 3 teachers/caretakers (whatever you call them)..I guess they could see it in my face that I was upset (to say the least) and I just went off.... Its hard enough with it being only her 3rd day here but I really don't appreciate the fact that I intentionally went to her room knowing she wasn't in there to get her stuff and in turn I get handed a screaming baby with a dirty diaper and the ASSt.manger just walk away without being able to tell me anything!
Thankfully they were extremely nice and reassuring...they appologized up and down then told me to complain to the owner. From what I got out of it they don't really care for the ASSt manager and they hate the fact that she will come in and pick up, play with a dc, take them out of the room but not change or do anything else...plus it screws them up with thier schedules.
Ok vent over...thanks...oh the wwyd part...should I call the owner and complain? or just let this one slide

Re: daycare drop off day #3
I am right there with you! My son started August 4th, twice a week. As soon as we enter the classroom, tears start, he doesn't want me to put him down, crawls after me to the door. It is heartbreaking. But I always call when I'm at work and they tell me that he's as happy as can be. This past Thursday was a little better, he didn't cry as soon as we entered the classroom. But as soon as I put him down he did. I really hope it gets better!!!!

Me too! This is our second week - she went 2 days last week. It is HARD.
But it does get easier...already I am feeling better leaving her...and she seems to be adjusting well too...

I would speak to the asst. manager and express how upset you were when you picked her up. Hopefully, she will be apologetic. If it continues to be trend with the asst. manager, then I would call the owner.
ETA: At the very least, she should of offered to change her diaper!

I'm fine that she didn't change or offer to change her diaper. But she should have at least offered to go get me her diaper stuff or at least warn me that her stuff wasn't in the bin. Or just offer to get her empty bottles out of the frige...something!
I might just let it go for now or if I have a chance to talk to her and say next time I will come into the room and get dd when I am ready, please dont do that to me again... If I said something at that moment in time I think I would have screamed at her so I just vented to the others and left...oh and to add dd's hiny was all red so she was dirty for a while

She was due...in fact the second I walked into the room with her teachers the first thing they said is she's due for a change...that when I started to vent.(I must have looked like a nut...but I was so upset and frazzled) The teacher appologize and told me that the manager likes to come in and she will play with then take a dc out of the room...which they hate becouse it throws them off...she doesn't know when or if they've been changed or fed and if they need to be changed she just brings them back and hand them off. I have a feeling its a bit of an issue between the teachers and the manager...hence why they told me to call the owner and complain.

Re: daycare drop off day #3 - update pickup wwyd/vent?
I have a 30 minute drive home from daycare. At first, I was a little shy about it, but now, if he has poop when I pick him up, I have no shame in handing him right over and asking them to change him.
The teachers on the ball check him just before I pick him up, so if they don't check, I ask them to change him. I don't know what the regulations are - if I am even supposed to change him there, etc. but for what I am paying in daycare fees, I don't think it is too much to ask them to do before we leave.
Hang in there, you do get into a routine and she's crying because she missed you all day - that's a good thing.

Re: daycare drop off day #3 - update pickup wwyd/vent?
It gets better I promise. My boys started pre-k last year and the crying went on for a month, I was besides myself as was DH. Then one day it was oh we are going to school...yeah! Now we have to drag them away when we come to pick them up. I didn't believe it when I posted your same story here in the middle of it, but it does happen!
