Daycare moms-policy question
Does your daycare have a policy on Biting and what is it? And do you think it is properly enforced?

do a search on my name and you will see the drama that i am going thru about biting! if i can find it i will bump it for you. hannah has been biting there.
my center has a 3 strikes your out for the day, which i think it is silly and so does many other professionals in the early childhood field that i have consulted
their policy is not properly enforced nor do they have an appropriate intervention plan to prevent it or address it. apparently other children in her class have bit but have not been sent home.
so on many levels they are failing the ones who get bit and the one who bites.

Re: Daycare moms-policy question
Sorry you are dealing with it. I am dealing with it on the other end and Connor is almost 3. My daycare doesn't have a policy which is annoying. And we have 2 chronic biters in the room. It has come down to me asking to have my kid moved because they have spoken to the parents and have been working with the kids and the biting continues and the kids are allowed to stay in the room.
I will say they have a biter in the infant room. He is a year old and they have moved him into the next room hoping the additional activity would help that child. Maybe Hannah could benefit from that. Is she too developed for the room she is in. This just happened so I don't know if it is working for this little boy.
Have you changed anything for Hannah? Taken away the bottle or binky? Moved to a big girl bed? These things could trigger biting.

OMG...really??? These are not high cognitive individuals that know what biting can do. She is probably doing it to be playful and even if it was out of anger...what is their plan? How are they going to change it?

Re: Daycare moms-policy question
They do have a policy, but I'm not sure what it is. I will check the handbook tonight and get back to you!
