DC screaming bloody murder when introduced to solid food

I started trying to introduce solids to my 5 1/2 month old approximately a month ago. I tried once to see how he would do and he didn't particulary care for it. Then I tried approximately a week later and again no dice so I let it go. We went to the Dr. on Thursday for his 5 month check up and the Dr. said to start the morning and evening cereal feedings with fruit or veggie at lunch time. Well my son screams bloody murder when I'm trying to feed him no matter what it is. He screamed for the cereal then I tried a little baby applesauce and he screamed and made faces like if I were feeding him lemon so I figured perhaps it's a little tart and tried giving him banana instead. He still screamed his head off hysterically. He seems to just not want it! My first born was nowhere near this difficult.

Have any of you ladies experienced this with your DC?

Any advice?

My ds likes veggies much better than the fruit. We eat solids and drink the bottle together so he is happy! good luck

I haven't experienced this, but maybe stop for a week and try again?

My DS hated the texture of baby foodso I stopped trying to give it to him. When I introduced table food he ate like a champ

I tried feeding my ds for the first time this morning and he cried during the process. I think he was scared of what to do with the food. We tried again at a later feeding and things got better! Don't give up....all babies know to this point are liquids. It's gotta be weird for them!
