DD crying at daycare
This is DD's 4th day in daycare and this is they called me 2x today to tell me that she's hysterically crying and have tried everything to calm her down. They called because they want to give her Mylicon drops and need my permission because they don't have doctor's note on file (which I'm getting tonight!).
I guess my question to all daycare moms is does it get better? I feel so guilty. It's so hard getting that call during the day knowing you can't do anything to help.

Re: DD crying at daycare
I'm so sorry DD will be starting daycare soon and that's one of my fears.
Is she normally gassy? Do you think that's even the problem? How long has she been going to daycare? Maybe she's overstimulated and overtired. Is there a dark quiet area they can take her and rock her?
eta: I just reread your post and see its her 4th day. So its definitely a possibility that she's overstimulated with all the change. From what I understand from BTDT moms she will adjust and really start to enjoy it soon

Re: DD crying at daycare
I was going to say the same as above that she is possibly overstimulated and overtired (This happened to DS when he started daycare, so much going on for them to look at!). Eventually she will settle down and get used to her new surroundings. It DOES get easier, I know that phone call just breaks your heart but she will adjust and get into a routine there eventually

Re: DD crying at daycare
She's 13wks old. Like all babies, sometimes she's gassy, but it's never been an 'all the time' kind of problem.
She was fine all day Tues and Wed...then I get TWO phone calls from the daycare center today.
I think you're all right...she's just adjusting to her new environment and all the new sights and sounds. I still feel like a lousy mom. I can't wait until I can hug my little girl tonight.

I don't know maybe I am wrong, but doesn't the daycare normally deal with babies?? Are they trying to make you feel worse??? You are not a lousy mom, and they shouldn't make you feel that way, I just feel like this is their job, they have experience with babies and should handle it. Maybe I am wrong, my mom watches my twins and never calls me, she just handles it.

Re: DD crying at daycare
i worked in daycare/preschool for over 5 years...the kids/babies do eventually get over the seperation anxiety and it could very well be that your baby does have gas.. How many days a week does DD go to daycare? the children who went only 2 days a week had a harder time adjusting as to the kids who were there 3 or more days a week...hang in there...she is definitely adjusting to the new environment and caregivers. I am very surprised the center called you with your baby crying...unless the phone call was just for the ok to give mylicon...how often do they call you? the center i worked in never called the parents, they just handled it. The teachers were all certified and had alot of experience too...good luck with everything and please dont ever think your a lousy mom!

Re: DD crying at daycare
My babies start daycare on Tuesday and this is my biggest fear. DD already screams when I leave her in a room with family members, I don't know how she (or I) will survive next week.

word of advice....keep drop off quick and simple. the longer you linger the harder it is for both you and the kids. good luck!
