DD has horrible cold

She's only 2 months old. The dr. said she'll just fight it out. I use the bulb syringe and use the humidifier but it doesn't seem to help much. Not sure what else i can do. She just sounds horrible. Any advice? Also, the dr. told me to use saline drops. How do I do this without her freaking out?

She WILL Freak out when you use the saline drops and bulb syringe, but it's SO worth it - it's 2 seconds and afterward they can breathe, eat, sleep so much better!! Ryans first cold was the worst, but after I learned how to help him we both felt better :)

Re: DD has horrible cold

First off Chat Icon Chat Icon I know its hard to see your baby in any kind of discomfort

As fo rthe saline drops we used them on DS when he was very young, probably about 1 month old. Now I know all babies are different but DS did not freak out, he barely noticed we were putting them in his nose.

What we would do is, take his head and tilt it back a little (not too much becasue it will go down his throat) and we would put in a couple of drops in each nostril. It woudl work pretty good and uncloged his nose.

Good luck, HTH
