DD has woke up all night crying...help!!

LAst night was rough DD who is 11 1/2 months woke up all night crying not like a real cry but like whine. I took her in bed with us and she continued to do it like every half hour and she would sit up, still have her eyes closed and whine. Almost like it was gas, but i tried everything and I do not think it was gas. She already has 8 teeth and never acted like this when she was cut a new tooth. she just seemed to not be able to get comfortable. She seems to be a little congested so I put Vicks on her, but it did not help. She has been drinking whole milk now, can she be reacting to that? This was the roughest night we have had in 11 months with her, i felt helpless not knowing what it was.

Wouldn't she have a fever with an ear infection? I thought that because her ear gets red sometimes and when you touch it, it is warm.

She could be getting a back tooth. They don't come in as nice as the front ones.

No she is not pulling on her ear. I am going to look in her mouth and see if I can feel any new teeth coming in. I felt so bad for her last night and just did not know what to do to comfort her.

id call the dr & bring her in just to get checked, this happened too many times w/my sons where i waited bc there wasnt a fever, then i was so mad at myself bc it turned out to be an ear infection & that is so painful.
It also could be the transition from formula-milk, but who knows?! bring her in if shes not acting herself....good luck!

My guess is an ear infection too although it could be teething (I love all the guesswork that goes along with parenting).

My kids never show the typical signs of ear infection. My DD is especially susceptible and the only way we know she has one is when she is up crying at night for at least 2 nights in a row.

Whatever it is, I hope she gets some relief soon!

ETA: She rarely a fever involved when she had an ear infection

Re: DD has woke up all night crying...help!!

We've been having the same problem every night for the past week. I took Charlie to the Dr. and he didn't have an ear infection. He had one once before with no fever so I was sure that was it. The Dr. said that it could be teething (he's 7 months). It seemed to have started after I started giving him meat, so I also thought it was gas, so I'm not giving it to him for a few days. I feel horrible that I can't help him.
